Supernova blast caught for the first time ever
Updated: Aug 9, 2021
The early moments of a huge star exploding were caught more than one billion light years from earth.
The supernova is being observed by scientists so they can better understand them.
The light was caught using the kepler space telescope data from 2017 when they were observing it.

The supernova was very lucky to have been caught because the telescope had to have been pointing at the exact tiny part of the sky, plus it is one billion light years away
Due to it being that far away, the star actually exploded one billion years ago but due to the speed of light, the light only arrived recently.
