NASA are making this spacecraft deliberately slam into Dimorphous moonlet to knock it off course.

NASA's goal in this project is to learn to deflect asteroids and NEO's (near earth objects) from hitting earth.

The 330 million dollar project is the first of its kind and will take time to come to a conclusion, The Asteroid is at it's nearest point to earth at 11 million kilometers away and is no threat to us.
